Laura E. Alms

Ms. Alms concentrates her practice in commercial and estate litigation, business formation and maintenance, probate, and real estate. She provides both litigation and transactional services to businesses and their owners. She uses her business background to effectively balance client’s business and legal considerations.

As a litigator, Ms. Alms represents clients involved in commercial and business litigation, including breach of contract matters, collection matters, shareholder and partner disputes, Will and Trust contests, breach of fiduciary duty. Ms. Alms also handles probate litigation. On the transactional side, Ms. Alms assists with entity formation, maintenance and governance, in addition to real estate transactions.

Ms. Alms earned her B.S. in Business Management (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2001, where she received the recognition of the prestigious Edmund J. James Scholar designation. Ms. Alms was awarded a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University in 2012 where she received awards for excellence from Northern Illinois University, the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity, and from the Kane County Bar Foundation. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Alumni Counsel for the Northern Illinois University College of Law and acts as a liaison to the University’s Board of Visitors. Ms. Alms is an active member of the DuPage County, Kane County, Chicago, and Illinois State Bar Associations. Prior to joining Lyons Law Group, LLC, Ms. Alms worked as a legal intern at a local law firm and was chosen as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Ms. Alms is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Northern Illinois University College of Law Alumni Counsel. In her free time, Ms. Alms enjoys traveling, swimming¸ supporting the Fighting Illini and NIU Huskies, and spending time relaxing with her family in Michigan.
